Play the Unwordle Daily Archive

Choose any date from January 1, 2024 through today and reconstruct that day's three hidden clue words. Archive games save separately, so replaying yesterday never replaces today's board or daily streak.

What is in this archive?

The archive replays this site's own Daily Unwordle boards. It is not an archive of official Wordle answers and is not affiliated with the New York Times. Each calendar date maps to a fixed puzzle number, then the browser uses that number and the same five-letter dictionary as Daily Unwordle to rebuild the board. That makes a past board repeatable: selecting the same date again produces the same answer and the same three color patterns.

The answer appears in the green bottom row. Your job is to supply one valid five-letter word for each colored row above it. A word is accepted when scoring it against the shown answer produces the complete green, yellow, and gray pattern for the active row. There may be more than one valid reconstruction, so you are solving constraints rather than recalling a hidden official answer.

How archive progress works

Every date has its own browser-storage key. Moving between dates restores the letters, solved rows, attempts, and result saved for that day on this device. Archive storage is deliberately separate from today's Daily Unwordle, so an old board cannot increase, reset, or overwrite your daily streak. No account is required and the saved puzzle state is not uploaded to a player profile.

  1. Pick a date or move one day at a time with Previous and Next.
  2. Read the green answer before working on the first color-only row.
  3. Enter a valid word whose full pattern matches; wrong patterns use one of six attempts.
  4. Clear all three rows, then select another date without affecting the Daily game.

Reading duplicate-letter clues

Repeated letters are counted, not treated as a simple yes-or-no match. Exact-position greens are assigned first. Yellow is then available only while an unused copy of that letter remains in the answer; later extra copies turn gray. For example, an answer with two Ps cannot award three green-or-yellow P matches to one guess. This is why a candidate can appear close while still failing the complete pattern.

When a row is difficult, lock every green position first, place yellows away from their shown positions, and leave gray slots for letters whose available copies have already been consumed. You can explore a different random board in Unwordle Unlimited or create a shareable answer in Custom Unwordle.

Archive questions

Why does the address include a date?

The date parameter makes the selected board bookmarkable while keeping the archive as one complete page. Individual dates are not separate sitemap pages.

Can I choose a future date?

No. The picker stops at today. Invalid, future, or pre-2024 dates return to today's available board.

Does replaying a puzzle reveal an official Wordle answer?

No. These are deterministically generated Unwordle.online boards based on the site's own puzzle numbering and dictionary, not a copy of the New York Times Wordle schedule.
